Garry Walton – The Goodwood Revival
Over the last few years Garry Walton has enjoyed creating artworks for some of the main events in Goodwood's horse racing and motor racing calendars.
The highlight of each year is undoubtedly the Goodwood Revival, where thousands of people from around the world flock to celebrate motoring racing and the fashions of a bygone era. This year Garry was commissioned to create three different artworks, in three very different styles, showcasing his talent as a pastiche artist.
Financial services company BGC commissioned Garry to illustrate their invitation for this years Revival. Working in a classic poster style Garry transformed their invitation into a thing of beauty, creating a wonderful momento for the official sponsor's special guests.
Every year the Revival celebrates key events from Britain's past. This year the 50th anniversary of England winning the World Cup is one of the key themes of the festival. Northstar Design asked Garry to provide illustrations for the festival's official programme cover, to transform it into a vintage style sticker album to celebrate the historic victory.
The 70th anniversary of the School Milk Act is another historic milestone being honoured at the Revival. Garry created this stunning pastiche artwork of a classic Milk Marketing Board advert, as an insert for the programme, promoting the free milk being given away at the festival.
The Goodwood Revival is a dream event for Garry. Such a celebration of history brings exciting briefs and a chance for his exceptional talent and versatility to shine through. We can't wait to see what next year's festival will bring.
