We're excited to reveal an advanced look at Yehrin Tong’s design for one of the latest Virago Modern Classic titles, due to be published in January 2018 to coincide with the imprint’s 40th Anniversary. The wonderful Yehrin created this beautiful pattern, featuring on the cover of the upcoming title ‘Writers As Readers: A Celebration of Virago Modern Classics’, which will be available from the start of next year in the form of a lovely gift hardback.
With art direction from Hannah Wood at Little, Brown Books UK Yehrin took Virago’s logo, the iconic apple, and made it the centrepiece of this fresh graphic pattern, celebrating the brand’s heritage and legacy.
The Virago Modern Classics series is a beautifully tactile and covetable collection that in the past has featured work by many outstanding designers such as Celia Birtwell, Orla Kiely, Barbara Hulanicki (the founder of Biba), Cath Kidston and legacy designers such as Lucienne Day and Marion Dorn. We’re proud to see Yehrin’s amazing work sit alongside such good company in this wonderful series that consistently raises the bar for cover aesthetics, positioning the titles it publishes not just as books to be read but art objects to be cherished.
