Levi Pinfold Wins The Amnesty CILIP Honour
We’re very proud to announce that Levi Pinfold has been awarded the prestigious 2018 Amnesty CILIP Honour in the Kate Greenaway category for his illustrations in A.F. Harrold’s book, The Song From Somewhere Else (Bloomsbury).
This award celebrates themes of empowering children to stand up for their beliefs and encouraging them to shape the world around them. Levi’s atmospheric black and white drawings illustrate this emotionally-charged story of feeling different, of loneliness and the strength that friendship gives. The judges hugely admired the power of his images which highlight Frank, the main character’s anxiety about standing up to bullies.
Levi Pinfold comments on his commendation: "While working on the pictures for The Song From Somewhere Else I was routinely struck by how important kindness is for a person who can only see shadows and a world in black and white. Amnesty International's amazing work encourages us to work hard towards caring for each other, and I feel truly honoured that our book has been recognised by such a vital and life-preserving organisation."
