Aleksei Bitskoff Illustrates Story World at Discover
Aleksei Bitskoff was commissioned by Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford, East London, to create concept work and large scale illustrations for wall vinyls for their magical Story World zone. The space is at the very heart of the centre and is designed to inspire children’s curiosity and imagination as they are encouraged to create their own stories, read, draw and play.
The design team at Discover felt that Aleksei’s steampunk worlds and characters would be the perfect inspiration for the space. He created an imagined alien universe of planets with cities within the clouds, flying machines and caves to explore.
He designed the steampunk light boxes to trace and draw on and the stained glass windows to gaze down into the Discover Garden. His cheeky alien characters appear at every turn. The project has involved a huge team of enthusiastic creatives working together to take Aleksei’s illustrations and transform them into an immersive and engaging experience for children.
