Gavin Scott wins The Children’s Wainwright Prize 2026
Otherlands, written by Thomas Halliday and illustrated by Gavin Scott, won the 2026 Children’s Wainwright Prize for Non-Fiction and the 2026 Children’s Wainwright Prize for Book of the Year.
Gavin’s agent, Amy Fitzgerald, attended the award ceremony with fellow Bright artists Gordy Wright and Matthew Taylor Wilson, who were also shortlisted and spoke brilliantly on each of their panels.
“The Wainwright Prize remains such a beautiful celebration of nature and creativity and we were lucky to see some of our wonderful talent on this year’s shortlist. I’m especially proud that Otherlands won not one but two awards. Gavin’s commitment to this project has been extraordinary and it’s wonderful to see his hard work recognised so meaningfully.” — Amy Fitzgerald
