New Arena Illustrator: Alejandro Colucci

We are very proud to introduce a new Arena illustrator, Alejandro Colucci. He is an award-winning artist who is comfortable illustrating fantasy, crime, horror, historic fiction and science fiction publications across the globe. His illustrations have adorned the covers of many bestselling writers including H.G. Wells, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.G. Ballard, Anne Rice, Mario Puzon and Patricia Cornwell to name just a few.
Alejandro works in a variety of techniques both traditional and digital, his artwork engages the viewer to give an emotional response to his subjects. Here are two recent book cover designs he illustrated for Michelle Paver's exciting new series, Gods and Warriors, published by Puffin.

Stephen Player

Stephen Player represented by Artist Partners  is living and teaching art and illustration in San Francisco, but he still finds the time to
illustrate for special projects, and has recently produced a new sample image entitled "Death" for a forthcoming Caroc project.

Stephen has always enjoyed painting the macabre, graphic novels, and other fantasy and horror subjects. He is known for his collaboration on many
Terry Pratchett titles : including

Stephen's work can also be seen as an influence on the set designs on Sky One's film production of "Hogfather" also a Terry Pratchett project.

Melvyn Grant

Melvyn Grant is an artist whose work has been held with the highest esteem for many years!
Recently he was awarded a special prize for illustration by the Spanish Association Comic Con in Malaga, Spain.  He was asked to attend as a guest of honour at the ceremony and awarded a prize as well as being voted best illustrator!

Melvyn always attracts an eclectic audience of fans as he has always worked in various genres of illustration – Children’s  Books (covers and interiors).   Terry Pratchett’s  Picture Book and Calendars, Fantasy covers and Horror books,  and his other identity as a much coveted  album cover  artist. Melvyn is the artist behind at least three of the most recent album covers for the world’s biggest heavy metal band   *Iron Maiden* he has also acquired a huge fan base because of it, who enjoy following  his work with ever increasing enthusiasm.

Quite recently Melvyn was asked to be involved in supplying the model Erin O’Connor with some prints of his work for her own MODEL SANCTUARY in Covent Garden !
Melvyn is also the cover artist behind many of the popular book covers by the author Darren Shan.

Fright Fest 2011

Graham Humphrey has created film posters and Interior Design for the Fright Fest 2011.
Film 4's Fright Fest is the UK's premiere fantasy and horror film festival taking place at London's Empire Leicester Square Cinema.
Over a period of five days more 20 films are shown with special appearances and signings by cast and crew.

VHS horror film covers

Graham Humphreys has created this image for Total Film to illustrate an interview about the VHS horror film covers commissioned by Palace Pictures in the 1980s.
The columnist Sam Ashurst, is represented as the central zombie with an array of characters from his favourite films of the era. The layout is arranged to emulate a classic VHS cover.
