Jonny Duddle’s Cave of Doom, Shortlisted for the Laugh Out Loud Book Award
We all like a good laugh and what can be better to get your child hooked on reading than sharing a funny book with them? Former Children's Laureate, Michael Rosen, has announced the shortlist for the first ever Laugh out Loud Book Awards (The Lollies).
Launched by Scholastic and supported by BookTrust, Rosen joins comedian and author Jenny Eclair, British film producer and founder of Altitude Films Will Clark, and YouTube sensation Amy Lee on the judging panel in search for the funniest new children's books of 2016. We're very proud that our very own Jonny Duddle is on the shortlist with his book, The Jolley-Rogers and the Cave of Doom (Templar), in the 6-8 year old category.
Obviously, we're biased, but Cave of Doom is the perfect book to read aloud and is VERY funny. This is Jonny's second fiction title, continuing the swashbuckling adventures of the Jolley-Rogers who are lured by three sea-hags into the Cave of Doom with their bewitched treasure and entranced by their spell! It's up to plucky Matilda, Jim Lad and Bones the dog to save the day…
Schools are now invited to get involved by submitting a class vote by 10 June, to decide the ultimate winners which will be announced at an Award ceremony in London, later that month.
