JOHN HOWE: FANTASTIC VOYAGES

This summer, nearly 150 works; original drawings, paintings and digital pieces, go on display across three iconic heritage sites on the Guérande Peninsula in France, in an exhibition trail running from 20th June to 1st November 2026.

Curated by Diane and Jean-Jacques Launier for CapAtlantique La Baule-Guérande Agglo, the show takes visitors on a journey through the central themes of John Howe’s lifetime body of work: ancient legends, mythical landscapes and fantastic worlds. At the Porte Saint-Michel, the experience takes on a different dimension after dark, when the medieval façade is transformed by a monumental projection, light and imagery conjuring a dreamlike, mythological universe from the stonework itself.

For decades John Howe has been one of the foremost names in fantasy illustration, known above all as a conceptual designer on the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film trilogies. Fantastic Voyages is a rare opportunity to experience the full breadth of that extraordinary career in one place.

Stephen Player

Stephen Player has produce many hundreds of  book covers over the years, and has recently been commissioned by Orbit Books to produce some fine quality special edition covers for the series by Robert Jordan The Wheel of Time- as you can see these are special editions sold  with a limited print run and  created with additional finishes and quality covers. The Dragon Reborn  (book 3 of the series) and The Greatest Hunt (book 2 of the series) this bestselling series will soo be a TV Series.

Andreea Dumuta – Love at First Bite

This personal piece draws from vintage horror posters, baroque ornamentation, and mid-century pulp covers.

Andreea writes that “the style of this piece sits somewhere between ecclesiastical and camp, using saturated jewel tones and textured halftones to evoke an aged, print like feel. It’s a love letter to old horror and the beauty of excess. The series as a whole is blending vintage design and surreal humour with a modern twist. I love bold shapes, grainy textures, and that perfectly imperfect print look”.
