Weston Wei for the Wall Street Journal

Weston Wei uses his enigmatic brushstrokes for a Wall Street Journal commission.

Weston's latest editorial is a visual journey accompanying an excerpt from American writer Daniel Handler’s (better known as Lemony Snicket) new book.

The piece delves into the poignant journey of a character navigating life with vivid visual hallucinations. Through his art, Weston sought to encapsulate the surreal essence of these haunting visions, blending reality with the fantastical to mirror the character’s tumultuous inner world. His composition isolates the character and is an invitation to step into his shoes.
