Bright New Artists This Spring from Bright Art Licensing!
Bright Art Licensing is always on the look-out for exciting new talent, and this month we are delighted to welcome a veritable host of new artists to the roster! Among the first of our latest signings, we are proud to introduce Ella Rose, Pippa Ellison, Emma Leach and Jo Spicer, and and thrilled to share with you some of the fabulous artwork – and extensive experience – they each bring to the Bright portfolio:
“With an art school training background and a degree in Textiles, I was desperate to find a role in a design studio. Finally I secured one, and started my journey as a mock-up artist for a large greetings company, later progressing to full-time Designer.
The studios then were hugely different to now: not an Apple Mac in sight, and everything created by paint and Omnichrome! My love for hand-painting has never left me, but has evolved and is now combined with Photoshop and Illustrator work.
I love to paint detailed, delicate, beautiful figures and, by contrast, have a more simplistic approach to florals.
When I’m not painting, I’m either in my garden planting and drinking tea, or shopping in fashion outlets – heaven!”
“After working as an in-house Designer in a greetings card company studio for five years, I decided to go Freelance, enabling me to concentrate on the working in the styles that I love most.
I sketch all my initial ideas by hand, and then scan in on a Mac, which I find creates more fluid ideas. I am fond of creating unique, interesting lettering – preferring these to graphic Mac fonts - fun children’s age and character cards, and hand-drawn line-work illustrations.
I like to add a three-dimensional touch to my art, by way of adding sequins, buttons, stitching, or photography. A decorative edge is prominent in my work, as I love o include colourful cheery patterns and textures such as wood, fabric and ribbons. I enjoy a specific brief, but pride myself on a mind full of ideas, and equally love creating to an open brief.
Two years on, I enjoy nothing more than working in my studio with my lovable, enthusiastic puppy to keep me company!”
“I studied Graphic Design at Stafford College for 3 years, and then for a further 2 years at Loughborough University.
After leaving education, I worked for an embroidery company in Leicestershire, designing applique for children’s and adults’ sweatshirts, and then from the late 90?s I starting working freelance in the Greeting Card industry.
I have had much success and my work has been published on a variety of products, including Gift Bags, Boxes, Greeting Cards, Advent Calendars, Tableware, Napkins, etc., and from 2011 I starting illustrating Children’s picture books.
I now live in Cheltenham where I rent a small office to work from in a beautiful old regency building. I like to find unusual materials to work on to create different effects and looks. I adore my job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.”
“Two years ago I made my dream come true and took the leap from an in-house studio designer position within a greetings card company, to ‘go it alone’ and become freelance.
With over a decade of experience working in various in-house roles - as a Studio Manager for a giftwrap company, a Greetings Card Design Manager, and as a designer – I decided it was time for a change, and I haven’t looked back since.
With a degree in Textiles and Fashion, specialising in Surface Decoration, my love for pattern, surface markings and delicacy comes through in my art. I am particularly inspired by textiles old and new, lace, art, jewellery, fashion and interiors.
I combine this love of pattern with my interest in colour, and love to play around, mixing things up, to give add interest to my work.
When I’m not holding a pen of some description, I swap it for two dog leads, taking my two Golden retrievers out for their walkies!”
