Steve May: SuperDad’s Day Off
Steve May’s full colour illustrations just leap off the page in SuperDad’s Day Off by Phil Earle, published this month by Barrington Stoke.
Stanley is just an ordinary little boy, whose dad just happens to be the greatest superhero on the planet, saving the world from disasters, aliens and bad guys. It’s hard work being a superhero and Stanley is determined that his Dad has a day off so off to the park they go for some father-and-son time but he soon finds himself pushed to the limit as the calls for help pile up. He ends up saving a lion stuck up a tree, rescuing a monster truck from a ditch and taking on shark-infested floodwaters. It looks like Stan is a chip off the old (superhero) block!
This book is part of Barrington Stoke’s Little Gems series and has a dyslexia-friendly layout, typeface and paperstock.
