Chris Labrooy – Jaguar E-Pace
Chris Labrooy continues to impress with his playful approach to how objects interact with each other and with their environments.
A large part of his work’s appeal is the way in which in which he extends and distorts our perception of what is familiar and recognisable; a couple of pink cars rest almost affectionally on each other; a swimming pool of Porsches bobs gently, mimicking the rise and fall of water. These concepts are full of Chris’ unique take on the world as he pushes at the boundaries of what our minds perceive as possible.
This angle was the perfect complement to the launch of the Jaguar E-Pace. Chris was commissioned by Foxtrot Papa to produce a series of animations to introduce Jaguar’s latest model, drawing inspiration from the urban cityscape of LA - a source of much inspiration to Chris - to create the atmosphere and provide the backdrop for these humorous set pieces. The resulting animations and stills derived from them were revealed and displayed prominently at the car’s launch event in Europe and in the US.
