Taaryn Brench/Lit in colour for Penguin and Runnymead Trust.
Taaryn was was commissioned to bring the 68 page report to life with illustrations and hand drawn lettering, together with the creation of supporting assets including a set of postcards, social media assets and a magazine cover for the Bookseller.
Lit in Colour was created by Penguin and the Runnymede Trust with the aim of finding innovative and practical ways to give schools the support and tools they need to introduce more books by people of colour into the classroom. As part of the campaign, Penguin commissioned a team of academics to conduct research which uncovered that barely any young people were being taught books by writers of colour, and that a complex range of barriers were causing this - including teachers’ limited resources and time, as well as a lack of knowledge and confidence in talking about race in the classroom
