Artist Profile – Mike Stonelake
Mike has oodles of experience as a commercial artist having worked with a wide variety of clients from Network Rail, Transport for London, to Amazon. He has number of strong illustrative approaches mostly employing illustrator vectors and photoshop.
His styles are influenced by 50's cartoon and comic book art, nostalgic deco poster styles and modern flat colour using honed techniques during his training as a painter and fine artist.
After a completing a degree in fine art, painting giant, abstract, canvases, Mike worked in graphic design, before moving into illustration. His background in both the fine art and design sectors offers his illustration work a versatility that is evident in the wide range of projects he has been involved with, including editorial, corporate and children’s.
Mike has had a passion for comics since childhood, particularly alternative and Bande Dessiné (European comics) and writes and draws his own comics.
