Jacey / Bloomsbury US
Jacey was asked to create an illustration referencing the Art Nouveau movement’s works and for the illustration to be have an item-driven direction rather than featuring a character. The brief also requested gorgeous metallics.
Jacey has written that having worked with Bloomsbury for the Because you Love to Hate Me book cover which had metallic elements, they approached him to work on The Dark Fable because they wanted metallic elements again but with a lusher overall approach. The cover elements were inspired by Art Nouveau and the brief was for the imagery to have an air of mystery and darkness. The majority of the illustration was created in Cinema 4D and the render in Octane.
