New Picture Books from Christopher Nielsen
Little Axel's Axolotl is a charming book featuring one of the world's most unusually endearing creatures. Written by award-winning author, Juliette MacIver, Little Axel's Axolotl is an adventure-filled tale in which Chris' illustrations bring Harris Aristotle to life.
Colour Makes the World Go Round is written and illustrated by Chris. In the book, he invites the reader to imagine a world with colour... and without. Cleverly juxtaposing illustrations, Chris shows how colour, in all its variety, is what creates our wonderful world. Deceptively simple, this is a book that can spark discussion about difference and the depth that it creates.
Ethel the Penguin is an upcoming book by Ursula Dubosarky, available to pre-order now. It's "an exuberant story about the vicarious joy of an unruly friend" and Chris loved illustrating the cheeky penguin main character.
Chris’ illustrations flow forth from his love of vintage design. Tin toys, Mexican wrestlers, matchboxes, medical charts and Indian goddesses all jostle for attention amongst the flotsam and jetsam of his flip-top head. His images have been adopted by wineries, zoos, department stores, radio stations and fishmongers around the globe as well as many books.
