Lee Wildish’s, Mum and Dad Glue to be read out by Lorraine Kelly on ITV1

The quirky illustrations of Lee Wildish are soon to be seen on screen when the second series of Bookaboo launches in the autumn, broadcast on ITV1 for the first time. The series, which is produced by Happy Films, features thirteen picture books read by celebrities, chosen to appeal to a broad audience. Lee Wildish and Kes Gray’s fantastic story of family separation, Mum and Dad Glue, published by Hodder, has been chosen as one of the thirteen and will be read out by Lorraine Kelly.

John Harvard Library

This commanding illustration is the result of an ongoing project by the very talented Robert Carter.

Commissioned by the Harvard University Press’s continuing John Harvard Library, they are re-issuing newly designed editions of the series which was first published in the 60's and 70's. It is a collection of important documents in American history as well as the writings of significant figures. So far Robert has completed 15 portraits with about 35 still to do.

Hello Alexis

Dazzling us this month with her delicate, vintage collaged illustrations is Alexis MacKenzie.

She joins Illustration Ltd with a fresh style which beautifully combines imagery from the past, natural and organic themes with drawings and textures. Alexis's collages are all composed by hand from a wide variety of sources, they have already attracted much attention, including a recent solo show in L.A which was reviewed by the L.A Times. She has a selection of beautiful prints which can be purchased here.

This gem of an illustration is the brainchild of Kavel Rafferty who was commissioned to do 12 covers for the British Dental Journal.

Kavel’s unique style which has graced the pages of The Times, Time Out and Conde Nast Traveller, was perfect for creating this series of bold, contemporary images, with this one accompanying the August issue.

Laure Fournier illustrates a storybook Bible

Fabulous French illustrator, Laure Fournier, has recently completed work on several stories for the prestigious publication of Archbishop Desmond Tutu's 'Children of God Storybook Bible'. In addition, her work was selected from the many contributors to be used as the cover design . Her gorgeous drawings are always a delight to see, with warm tones and sumptuous colour, perfectly evoking the spirit of these stories.

Sing A Song of Bottoms shortlisted for the Early Years Awards

Adam Stower and Jeanne Willis's book, Sing a Song of Bottoms has been shortlisted for the Booktrust Early Years Award 2010 in the Best Book For Children Under 5 category. The second title in their collaborative partnership, Sing A Song of Bottoms is published by Puffin Books. The winners will be announced in September.

Susan Hellard has been illustrating Mindy Hammond's weekly column, featured in the Sunday Express Magazine, for almost two and a half years. Mindy writes about her life and dramas in the country with her children, her celebrity husband, Richard and their menagerie of animals.

Sue's attention to detail and knowledge of the Hammond family have been invaluable in order to maintain the continuity of the characters and locations and bring Mindy's everyday adventures to life.
