Poonam Mistry illustrates book for The Commonwealth
Phosphor Art’s Poonam Mistry has just completed an exciting project illustrating a book containing stories and poems from across the Commonwealth. A River of Stories Volume 2: Earth was commissioned by Lift Education and The Commonwealth Education Trust.
It brings together stories and poetry from each of the 54 Member States of the Commonwealth of Nations, with the theme of earth, all beautifully illustrated by Poonam in over 80 illustrations. The previous volume was illustrated by the iconic Jan Pie?kowski and Poonam felt very privileged to be filling his boots!
Poonam was thrilled to be able to fulfill her lifetime ambition of illustrating a book and we hope this will be the first of many! This project was perfect for her as it gave her the opportunity to apply her passion for folk tales, myths and fables to capturing the essence, spirit and traditions of each country for a 21st Century audience. We can’t wait to see it in print.
