The Summer Reading Challenge Official Artist: Adam Stower

3… 2… 1… Blast off to outer space with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge featuring these super galactic illustrations by Adam Stowerillustrator and author of King Coo and Silly Doggy.

The theme, Space Race, is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and encourages over 750,000 children in the UK between the ages of 4 and 11 to sign up to the reading challenge.

Adam’s space family The Rockets adorn the Reading Agency’s promotional material across the country.

From activity sheets, posters, colour-in specs and collectors cards to smelly stickers, children will not fail to be utterly absorbed by this years fun-filled space adventure. He created 50 unique illustrations for this inspiring campaign from kooky aliens and grannies on space bikes to rockets, planets and everything in between.

You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!

Adam Stower talks about the importance of libraries and how the books from his childhood inspired his own storytelling in this short video.
