The Thing / Peter Strain
Peter Strain created a private commission to commemorate John Carpenter’s film The Thing (1982).
Peter was honored by the opportunity to create a private commission in his signature hand drawn style for “one of the greatest films ever made,” John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982). Peter continued, “I absolutely loved making this and exploring how I could combine the stunningly grotesque special effects make up work of Rob Bottin with the themes of the film. In the movie, the monster itself has no true form, so I thought about using that idea in conjunction with the typical ‘hero’ poster. The biggest challenge was working out the composition—what to place where and at what size so it didn’t overpower or distract from the overall form.” Peter plans to announce a limited release of screen prints for sale soon.
