This beautiful picture book written by Ross Montgomery with atmospheric images by Richard is touching, thought-provoking and a real tear-jerker!

It’s a story of a young girl who sees The Thing at number 52 on her street where she lives. He always seems so lonely so she decides to befriend him. The unlikely pair end up the best of friends and go on a fun trip to the seaside. She discovers that there are many Things living all over the place. This gives her an idea... she invites lots of Things to a party at number 52 and they all dance through the night. The Thing is so happy, but, as the Things says, "... All Things have to go sometime."

Richard Johnson’s charming and friendly characters bring this enchanting story to life and The Thing at 52 will allow meaningful conversations between parents and children about friendship, loneliness and coping with loss.

The Thing at 52 is published by Frances Lincoln this month.

Richard Johnson is represented by Arena Illustration.
