Andreea Dumuta – Love at First Bite

This personal piece draws from vintage horror posters, baroque ornamentation, and mid-century pulp covers.

Andreea writes that “the style of this piece sits somewhere between ecclesiastical and camp, using saturated jewel tones and textured halftones to evoke an aged, print like feel. It’s a love letter to old horror and the beauty of excess. The series as a whole is blending vintage design and surreal humour with a modern twist. I love bold shapes, grainy textures, and that perfectly imperfect print look”.

Simon Prades was commissioned to create the cover illustration for the 21^st July issue of TIME magazine. The cover feature is about the fate of kidnapped Ukrainian children and how that has been pushed to the edges of the peace process, intensifying fears across the country that they may never come home. The longer they remain in Russia, the more difficult it will be to return and reintegrate them, as the effect of Russian propaganda and indoctrination takes hold over time.

Single cover for Becky G – Andreea Dumuta

We are pleased to announce that Début Art is now representing Andreea Dumuta. The brief for the Becky G single cover was to illustrate the artist's eyes and have them match the theme of the song which is about feelings of anger but also empowerment following a break up. The single cover is one of a series of illustrations she created for the Latin American singer Becky G for her latest album called Encuentros.

Andreea is based in Romania and her work has been attracting many book publishing companies worldwide. Andreea is keen to start doing more work for other kinds of company and she has recently been creating personal work featuring people.

Pinocchio – Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre – Lisa Sheehan

Lisa was commissioned to create a key visual and animation for use by The Globe Theatre to promote its upcoming production of Pinocchio.

The illustration reflects the strong wood theme in the book deploying CG to simulate letterforms made of wood. A second more complex illustration and animation is also being created by Lisa regarding the production and these will reflect the unique nature of The Globe’s Elizabethan style pillared stage.
