Written by Elvira (Mistress of the Dark), Pintachan was entrusted with creating engaging, playful visuals to introduce classic horror icons; vampires, zombies, witches, ghosts, aliens and more, to young readers and enduring fans alike.

As an officially licensed early-concept board book featuring glow-in-the-dark highlights on the cover, the project demanded a tone that balanced creepy fun with youthful accessibility.

Becca Thorne – The Savage Isle

Becca Thorne – The Savage Isle (Illustration Ltd, illustrator, Publishing Jobs)
A powerful cover by Becca Thorne brings the Roman invasion of Britain to life for The Savage Isle.

Commissioned by Canelo Books, Becca illustrated the hardback cover for The Savage Isle, the first in a new trilogy by Michael Arnold. Told from a Celtic perspective, the novel explores the Roman invasion of Britain.

The illustration presents an ominous vision of the southeastern coastline: a lone Roman ship battles curling, Celtic-inspired waves beneath a brooding sky. Towering above, the White Cliffs loom - unmoving and unwelcoming - symbolising both the physical and cultural resistance awaiting the invaders.

Becca's composition captures the tension and drama of a land on the brink of conquest, setting the tone for the gripping story within.
