Snakes on a Train

Snakes on a Train (Design Projects, Illustration Ltd, illustrator)

Chrissy Lau's vibrant design, "Lucky 8 Snakes on a Train," transforms Sydney’s light rail into a moving celebration of the Year of the Wood Snake 2025.

Commissioned by the City of Sydney, Chrissy's artwork blesses passengers with prosperity, perseverance, and good fortune, weaving together auspicious symbols and colours.

Snakes on a Train (Design Projects, Illustration Ltd, illustrator)

The snakes, adorned with plum blossoms, orchids, and chrysanthemum, represent longevity and prosperity, while the peony flowers symbolise wealth. Gold coins, ingots, and lunar lanterns with lucky longevity knots complete the composition, set against a backdrop of clouds.

With its bold use of red and yellow - the lucky colours of the Wood Snake, this design brings joy and blessings to the bustling city streets.
