What an extraordinary day it was yesterday, March 17th 2016, the date of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize - now in its twelfth year and selecting the very, very best in new and emerging talent for children’s writing and illustration. Uniquely, it’s a prize argued over and voted for by the most books-passionate of people; Waterstones’ own experienced booksellers.
Indian culture has always been a big inspiration for Phosphor Art’s Poonam Mistry, and her highly detailed illustration style lends itself well to traditional stories. Poonam has recently embarked on an exciting new project, translating Indian folk tales and fables and illustrating them in her unique style.
Alan Kitching is one of the world’s foremost practitioners of letterpress typographic design and printmaking. He is renowned for his expressive use of wood and metal letterforms in creating visuals for commissions and limited edition prints. He lives and works at The Typography Workshop in Kennington, south London, which he shared with designer, writer and partner Celia Stothard (deceased 2010).
Working with our affiliate agency B&A in the U.S. This brilliant image by Steve Stone was produced for the recent Stephen King Dark Tower Novel entitled 'The Wind Through The Keyhole' and it's had great praise indeed from the man himself!
We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Graham Carter to our talented list. Graham is one of the most intricate and exciting printmakers in the UK. He has been working at the forefront of the printmaking industry for the past 15 years and he has also worked with Animation Studio TickTockRobot on commercial animations for a wide variety of clients.
The detailed pen and ink style of Phosphor Art’s Dave Hopkins works beautifully both inside and outside of books! He’s recently completed an illustration for the cover for Hallie Rubenhold’s new book The French Lesson, which showcases his work in full colour.
