Bill Sanderson designs stamps for Terry Pratchett’s Discworld

Bill Sanderson designs stamps for Terry Pratchett’s Discworld (Design Projects, illustrator, Phosphor Art) Late last year had the chance to illustrate a page of stamps for Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Emporium. For those who don’t know Discworld is a series of 40 books written by Pratchett, based on the fictional Discworld – a flat planet sitting on the backs of four elephants which ride through space on the back of a giant tortoise (of course)…

The stamps feature Sam Vimes – the chief of police of Ankh-Morpock, the biggest city on the Discworld. Although Vimes is a much-loved character from the series he had never before been featured on his own stamp. Discworld stamps are fast becoming collector’s items and have been picked up by The British Museum in the past, so we hope the Sam Vimes stamp will prove as popular as the rest.

Bill was honoured to be included in this strange world and the resulting stamp looks great. The Phosphor team were saddened to hear the news of Terry Pratchett’s death last month and wish to send their condolences to Terry’s family and all at the Discworld Emporium.

The stamp will be available to buy in two batches on April 11th from the Discworld Emporium Website -

La La Land Hangers

Chrissy Lau works with La La Land to design a unique range of packaging for their new scarf range.

Each fashionable lady was created with a distinct style and personality to complement each scarf design. The ladies were immortalised as cardboard hangers making them a striking point of sale display and keepsakes for customers to hang their scarf.  Chrissy says "It was really exciting to see my illustrations as unique packaging that the customer can keep as a piece of artwork but also function as a hanger. I am over the moon with how striking they look in real-life. I'm currently working with La La Land on a scarf design which is top secret so stay tuned for an update!" The client was pretty happy too, Ludi Chu of La La Land says "Chrissy was the best on the Scarf Hangers project! It was a last minute idea to introduce four extra scarves to our range and we needed the scarf hangers completed in just a few days. Chrissy was so prompt at meeting to discuss the project, working to the brief and delivering the final images on time. Throughout the process it was a pleasure, as always, to work with the brilliant and cheerful Chrissy".

This set of drawings represent some of the company's recent completed projects, and have been used in their latest annual; a 10th Anniversary edition. Mike says "Each drawing was based on photographs and drawn using fineline pen on Bristol Board. The list of ten buildings to be drawn was decided by the annual's design team. The drawings were included as detachable postcards at the rear of the book."
