We are delighted to introduce our two new artists Will Bovill and Tom Clohosy Cole! Both have joined The Artworks through the Startworks programme so are fresh out of university and bursting with new talent. Already causing quite a stir we can’t wait to see what they get up to.
We are thrilled to be representing Raid 71 (aka Chris Thornley), an artist with a wealth of design experience behind him, whom after a typography degree has chosen to take the illustrative path. Both experimental and playful, exhibiting worldwide and with a number of awards under his belt, Raid 71 has worked for Levi, Mercury Records, Lego and many more high profile clients.
His more recent fame came with the death of Steve Jobs, and an image Chris created back in May this year. He says "an editorial I did sometime ago has been involved in an International news story relating to the death of Steve Jobs; (I'm) getting a ton of requests for newspapers to talk about it." It turns out a student in Hong Kong created an almost identical 'tribute logo', which has been 'creating a buzz in cyberspace'. The student admits his is not the original but neither a rip off. Tim Ellis has been working with The Chartered Institute of Marketing to create these fun and engaging spreads for their brochure promoting training courses available in 2012.
Harry has been working on a collection of new work for his recent exhibition: "Until that day I love you anyway". We really love his pencil crayon 'Tales From The Bus Stop'. Here are some highlights from the exhibition:
Andrew Selby’s illustrations never disappoint. And tackling thought-provoking subjects is where he’s at his best.
He is the cover illustrator for The Lancet Infectious Diseases Journal, having completed his second image for them he says: The articles "allow me to think conceptually about how to solve problems through metaphorical solutions - exactly the kind of work I enjoy doing. The bigger the puzzle - the more enjoyable it becomes!"
Justin Metz created this fantastic CG image for Bloomberg BusinessWeek magazine. The image was used on the cover and illustrates the lead story about the crisis in rising food prices.
