Spike Gerrell: The Economist Science Feature

Spike Gerrell loves science, so he was chuffed to be asked to illustrate The Economist's Science and Technology feature about neuromorphic computing. Scientists want to make computers more like brains in the belief that humanity will, one day, end up not only with a better understanding of how the brain works, but also with better and smarter computers.

Frances Castle: Edinburgh International Book Festival 2013

Frances Castle was commissioned to design another set of illuminated letters to celebrate this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival. Following on from the success of last year's Festival campaign, The Guardian asked her to illustrate three letters inspired by the theme of time and quotes by Margaret Atwood and Iain M. Banks.

Frances' illustrations can be seen at The Guardian's Spiegeltent on umbrellas, deck chairs, canvas bags and beer mats.

Laurindo Feliciano’s Ad campaign for Nestle, Maggi Fusian Pad Thai

Our latest addition to The Artworks, Laurindo Feliciano has blown us away with his first job for Publicis Mojo in Sydney. Laurindo was selected to illustrate the new ‘CAUTION’ campaign for Nestlé’s product MAGGI Fusian Pad Thai. Laurindo’s surreal and imaginative illustration made him the perfect choice to help create this stand-out campaign. Michael Dole, Creative Director of Publicis Mojo, Sydney: “We were incredibly lucky to work with Laurindo, who added his own brilliant ideas and imagination to bring the concept to life. God only knows what goes on in his head.” Well done Laurindo, we can’t wait to see what you do next!

Frances Castle: Interactive Games for The Mary Rose Museum

Frances Castle was commissioned by a new media design agency to illustrate two interactive games for The Mary Rose Museum. Built alongside HMS Victory at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the new state-of-the-art museum houses Henry VIII's famous warship and many of the 19,000 artifacts which were recovered with it from the sea in 1982. 52,000 visitors have already flooded through the museum's doors since it opened on 31st May!
Frances had to illustrate objects and characters for 'What's for Dinner' which gives visitors a chance to choose the menu for a crew of over 500 men and officers. She also designed a fun shooting game called 'Foil the French' featuring four different types of guns with different firing ranges – visitors are set the challenge to disable the enemy ships in order to capture them, not to sink them!
