Sam Hadley’s vintage cover artwork for Captain in Calico
Sam Hadley has illustrated the cover artwork for Captain in Calico - the lost novel by George MacDonald Fraser. This was actually the first novel written by the author but it was originally rejected by publishers and put away in a fire-prof safe by the author which was discovered by his children after his death.
Sam Hadley is a pastiche artist chosen for his vintage style. Previous covers were done by AP artist Gino D’Achille and prior to that another AP artist Arthur Barbosa so Artist Partners has a long history of working with George MacDonald Fraser. The book is out now published by Harper Collins.
