Pastiche Documents the History of the Milk Tray Man
Phosphor Art’s Pastiche artist Jon Rogers has been working hard on several paintings which star in the new Cadbury Milk Tray advert.
The advert features 1987’s Milk Tray Man James Coombes explaining the old ads in which the James Bond style character was seen risking his life to deliver a box of milk try to the lady he loves. He then kickstarts the recruit for a brand new Milk Tray Man, encouraging viewers to apply.
The ads were very popular in in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s but the last one on air was 13 years ago. To mark Milk Tray’s 100thanniversary Cadbury teamed up with Fallon to bring the Milk Tray Man back. The competition runs until the end of the year and a new star will be revealed in 2016.
Jon Rogers, under his guise Pastiche was asked to create six old masters style oil paintings in just 12 days, featuring various action scenes from previous ads. Sarah Thomson, the art buyer at Fallon was very pleased with Jon’s work and said “These are amazing, I think they are some of the most wonderful pieces of work I have ever opened on my computer in all my years of art buying”. If that’s not a good review we don’t know what is!
