To celebrate the new ‘Harry Potter Book Day’, Jonny created this stunning image of the famous platform nine and three-quarters
Jonny Duddle’s amazingly detailed and cinematic illustration was commissioned by Bloomsbury and their brief was to show the gleaming Hogwarts Express in clouds of steam through which can be seen the many Hogwarts students and parents including Harry, Hermione, Ron and the other Weasley children crowded on Platform 9 ¾. This is the scene described Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The Harry Potter Book Day rebrand makes this annual event more accessible for children and schools, it is hoped that the new daytime slot will also allow more flexibility for bookshops and fans to hold events at any time of day or night on 12th October 2023.
Fans around the globe will be able to celebrate the series with events, parties and other festivities. Bloomsbury has created a downloadable event kit, packed with ideas and activities for holding events in bookshops, schools, libraries, or at home with family and friends.
Jonny recreated the covers for all seven of the Harry Potter book series in 2013.
