Matthew Cook was asked to illustrate the milestones throughout Margaret Thatcher’s life for The Times’ piece ‘The Long Road from Grantham’. Matthew’s sensitive use of tone in his beautiful watercolour illustrations give amazing detail and create a set of stunning illustrations to mark the late PM’s life. Kate Forrester was asked by Marks and Spencers to illustrate another gorgeous commemorative tin for them. This time celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation on the 2nd June. Debbie Powell was asked by Waitrose to illustrate lots of yummy new products for the launch of their new ’Good to Go’ range. Debbie’s use of simple graphic shapes and bold colours make the ingredients really stand out and easily identifiable for the consumer. Me Books have just launched Alex T Smith's enhanced ebook editions of Ella and Primrose, narrated by actress and comedian Lucy Porter. Thomas Flintham was commissioned by Quercus Fiction to illustrate The Last Wild by Piers Torday. This is an adventure novel about an extraordinary boy called Kester, who’s life is transformed by a flock of excited pigeons who are talking to him, he realizes his life will never be the same again. The pigeons fly Kester to a wild place where the last creatures in the land have survived. A wise stag needs Kester’s help, and together they must embark on a great journey. Thomas brought the characters to life for the cover design and created their world on the black and white interior map and used his stylish hand rendered type for the title and blurb. Stuart Easton has recently been commissioned to illustrate a short story entitled : Drunken
"Drunken" is a quirky unusual folk tale set on the outskirts of a fictional Eastern European village. The main character is a drunken chap who travels to the edge of town to secretly drink his wine and share the dregs with the local birds.
The illustration was initially hand drawn, then coloured and aged using Photoshop
