Sky Gazing: A Guide to the Moon, Sun, Planets, Stars, Eclipses, and Constellations, illustrated by our very own Hannah Bailey and written by Meg Thacer has won the Best hands-on Science Book category at the AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize for Excellence in Science Books which celebrates outstanding science writing and illustration for children and young adults. The prize is meant to encourage the writing and publishing of high-quality science books for all age groups.
“A highly visual guide to observing the sky with the naked eye, kids will delve into the science behind what they see, making tours of our solar system and deep space, and information on the formation of the earth’s moon, eclipses, northern lights and meteor showers, all accessible to children aged 9-14. Panelists commented that the book is an accessible introduction to astronomy for kids. It is a good balance of astrological information, age-appropriate activities and focuses on developing the skills needed to complete the activities. This is what a hands-on activity book should be.”

Phosphor are thrilled to introduce their new signing, Studio Blanka, a design studio based in Brazil under the art direction of Diogo Hornburg.
Diogo says : "We are mutants and constantly innovating.
What if we were asked where we want to be in ten years from now? Perhaps, immersed in space, or making publicity material for the first flying car, maybe creating a papercraft time machine, or celebrating the delivery of a new project with the team. The only certainty we have is that we will be finding the most incredible and exclusive ways to convey the essence of each new challenge."
The Phosphor team is very excited to be able to show off Dave Hopkins' artwork on the new cover for Jessie Burton's sequel to The Miniaturist called The House of Fortune. Dave illustrated the figures in his unique line style, the same technique used on the original Miniaturist cover over 10 years ago. Katie Tooke was the book designer.
The House of Fortune by Jessie Burton will be out in July and published by Picador.
