Vince McIndoe / Mary’s Bottom Line ‘Kinky Knickers’ Packaging

We're very pleased to show you this sexy pin up by Vince McIndoe for Mary Portas's new range of Kinky Knickers which form part of her new show "Mary's Bottom Line" for Channel 4.

Mary Portas has been in the retail business for thirty years. Last year she produced her own fashion line that she hoped to be as British-made as possible, but soon found it was a nigh on impossible task. In 'Mary's Bottom Line', Mary Portas wants to boost the UK clothing industry by starting her own production line to manufacture a key staple in any woman's wardrobe - Knickers.

Mary Portas heads to Middleton near Manchester, where past generations used to thrive on a booming manufacturing industry, but these days many factories are closed and unemployment is rife. Mary will recruit eight apprentices, get them trained up, and start a knickers production line.
Mary is re-opening the sewing room floor at a factory owned by British nightwear manufacturers Headen and Quarmby. It was one of 11 thriving textile factories in Middleton, now it is the only one that remains.  Established in 1935, the factory used to employ 60 machinists and produced thousands of items a week before competition from cheap imports forced the Company to send production abroad.

But can she really make pants cost-effectively? Can she find a retailer prepared to stock her knickers and, crucially, can she convince shoppers topay a bit more for a British made product? Or is it really the end of the line for the UK's textiles heritage?

Mary's Bottom Line starts Thursday 15 March on Channel 4, look out for Vince McIndoe's illustration on all the packaging!

M&S Queen’s diamond jubilee tins!

Debbie Powell and Kate Forrester were asked by Marks and Spencer’s to illustrate these absolutely beautiful commemorative tins for the Queen’s diamond jubilee. They’re out now, but get in there quickly as Kate’s previous one for the Royal Wedding flew off the shelves and sold out in no time!

New Covent Garden Soups

Alongside Ziggurat Brands, Barry Patterson has worked on the rebranding of the New Covent Garden Soups range. Barry's style works perfectly with these all natural soups, his rich illustrations relishing the ingredients. Anna Rudenko from Popsop, the online brand magazine says "The new vivid and colorful design also provides the clearest range segmentation, making it easier for consumers to differentiate the products in five segments of the brand’s portfolio". Super job.

DrNo Vintage Guitar Effects

Boom Artwork recently created the logo artwork and packaging design for DrNo vintage guitar effects. And a very pleasurable job it was, as he thrives on mixing graphic design, custom lettering and illustration, all of which were required for this commission. Initially BoomArtwork did some rough sketches and then set out six different vintage visual routes, one for each guitar effect. Reflecting the sound and style of the effect within the artwork, he finally placed the sketches in illustrator, traced them and added colour. Custom letters were also created to make every effect unique and special. BoomArtwork says "As I'm a guitar player myself I have to say these vintage guitar effects are truly amazing and really take you back in time. All effects are made with the best components and materials that are available, and every stomp box is 100% handmade by DrNo himself."

Kellogg’s Special K Promotion

Miminne has been busy with eight consecutive editorial ads for Kellogg's. The illustrations were created for SI STYLE magazine in Switzerland, working with Art Director Barbara Pastore. Miminne had to create a character called Keira for the Kellogg's promotional page in the magazine; a girl in her early 20's, who loves Fashion, Beauty, everything hot and new! Miminne says "When I first did sketches, I put a red bow on her head, representing a mirrored K shape, as in Kellogg's. The client was very happy with the idea, so we decided to have the bow in every issue, where possible. We also had her in different settings every month, in shoe shop, in park, in St.Tropez, in Paris, and at home. She was a happy and fun character to draw. I hope the readers enjoyed her presence, too."
