How to Make a Kite

BBC Countryfile Magazine recently commissioned Liam O'Farrell for a landscape kite-flying illustration.

BBC Countryfile Magazine is packed with news of the countryside and outdoor living, and for this feature on kite building, Liam has produced a beautiful spread of children flying a kite in an English landscape - infact one just outside his back door.

He explains, "I produced the initial visuals based on the fields around the Vale of Avalon where I live in Somerset. This has quite a hilly landscape so it is not suitable for vast fields of crops. Once we agreed on the initial concepts, I went ahead with the final illustration. It was a real joy to do and looks pretty effective in the final magazine. That said, I won’t attempt making another kite. I know my limits."

Is the attraction the escape from reality where everything is fake? Sveta's artwork is a beautifully detailed dissection of the brain, playfully illustrated with feel good Disney icons, read the article here.
