Alex T Smith's brand new picture book Egg, has just been published by Hodder Children's Books. The story revolves around the delectable Foxy DuBois who invites Egg into her house for a bite to eat. Unfortunately for Egg, Foxy concocts a cunning plan to turn him into breakfast, but she is in for a big surprise when Egg finally hatches…
This funny story has already had some egg-cellent reviews as featured on The Bookbag:
"It's silly, silly and silly some more, and that's what makes it brilliant. Alex T Smith's illustrations fuel the enjoyment... If you're not in fits of giggles by and because of the back endpaper, there's something wrong with you!"
This is Alex’s sixth picture book. Egg is out now and available from all good booksellers.

Mark Oldroyd

Mark Oldroyd has recently completed some paintings for use in a forthcoming exhibition at the new visitors centre at Millford House in Jesmond Dene, Tyne and Wear. The centre will open in December 2010, in time to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Tyneside industrialist and inventor Lord William Armstrong.  Born in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1810, Armstrong was the inventor of the hydraulic crane and the 'Armstong Gun', as well as being an early advocate of renewable energy. He and his wife were instrumental in creating a woodland garden along the sides of the Jesmond Dene valley, now a public park. The exhibition will track the lives and achievements of both Lord and Lady Armstrong.
