New Arena Illustrator: Alejandro Colucci

We are very proud to introduce a new Arena illustrator, Alejandro Colucci. He is an award-winning artist who is comfortable illustrating fantasy, crime, horror, historic fiction and science fiction publications across the globe. His illustrations have adorned the covers of many bestselling writers including H.G. Wells, Ursula K. Le Guin, J.G. Ballard, Anne Rice, Mario Puzon and Patricia Cornwell to name just a few.
Alejandro works in a variety of techniques both traditional and digital, his artwork engages the viewer to give an emotional response to his subjects. Here are two recent book cover designs he illustrated for Michelle Paver's exciting new series, Gods and Warriors, published by Puffin.

Levi Pinfold’s Black Dog: Children’s Book Winner, AOI Illustration Awards 2013

Congratulations to Levi Pinfold whose stunning picture book, Black Dog, has won the prestigious CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal 2013.

The judges describe the book as ‘A visual treat, full of mood and atmosphere, the beautiful illustrations are full of detail and perfectly in keeping with the story … A timeless, thought-provoking book about facing up to anxiety, fears, and the black dog that visits some of us from time-to-time.’
Black Dog has also won first prize in the Children's Book Category in the year's AOI Illustration Awards AND the picture books category in the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards 2013.

Lizzie Mary Cullen scoops the AOI Gold Design Award

One of the "design industry’s young leading lights" (Design Week 2011) Lizzie Mary Cullen continues her trail of awesomeness by scooping the Gold Design Award from the Association of Illustrators (AOI) exhibition,
The winning piece is called ‘Lightwells at Somerset House’ and is a piece commissioned by Somerset House for the launch of their new venue last
year.

Simon Bartram: Bob, Man On The Moon 10th Birthday Celebrations

Simon Bartram's Bob, Man on the Moon was first published in 1992 and the Bob books have become a picture book phenomenon reaching sales of 250,000 and winning Simon The Blue Peter Book Award.
To celebrate Bob's 10th Birthday, Templar have launched Simon's new picture book, Bob and the Moontree Mystery.
"Bob is truly stumped by the arrival of a mysterious Moontree growing out of crater 483. Moontree questions ping around his head - where did it come from? How did it get here? And why does Bob feel like it's his job to protect the tree and it's golden podberries?"

Chris Wormell – First Prize in Red House Children’s book award

Huge congratulations to the ultra talented Chris Wormell who was awarded first prize in the ’books for younger children’ category in the Red House Children’s Book Award 2012 for ‘Scruffy Bear and the Six White Mice’. The award was decided by the harshest critics of all, the children themselves. Well done Chris!

Gary Blythe has produced  many picture books for all the top publishers here and in the US  and has in the past  worked in advertising, obtaining a much coveted Clio  Award for an  illustrative advertising campaign.
