House of Illustration: Illustrator in Residence Call for Entries

House of Illustration have announced that they are now accepting applications for their 2015 Illustrator in Residence programme. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative illustrator, graphic artist or collective to create an ambitious body of work that inspires visitors and challenges public opinion about what illustration can be. Applications are welcome from recent graduates or established practitioners over the age of 25, working in any medium or format.

The residency lasts for six months and it's the second year the programme has run. Rachel Lillie was the Illustrator in Residence in 2014 and played a key role in recording the House of Illustration's Housewarming season when it opened it's doors for the first time in July.

Applications are closing on 15th May and you can read more about the judges and how to apply here.

Olympia Illustration Competition

Lucia Emanuela Curzi has won second prize in the Olympia Illustration Competition! The brief was to produce a poster design that marked their milestone anniversary while celebrating the venue’s rich culture and heritage, with the poster being featured in their commemorative 125th anniversary campaign. Lucia created her piece in her spare time earlier in the year, and only just missing out on the first prize place, the organisers called her to say they would be making a 'special' second prize place for her! Lucia was able to join the celebration at The Olympia Theatre where she has been photographed with her art.

My First ballet

We are proud to announce that Mark Ruffle has won the prestigious English National Ballet 'My First Ballet' poster competition. His artwork for Sleeping Beauty wowed the panel of expert judges, and as a result his poster will be used to advertise the ballet and forthcoming events nationwide. What is more, another of our talented artists, Javier Joaquin was awarded runner up for his take on the brief. All in all a huge success for our guys!
