Advice and Insights from Phosphor’s Top Artists

Phosphor Art are running a feature on their website called Meet the Artist, a simple five question interview which aims to gain a better insight into the world of their artists. Most recently featured was Chinese artist Nod Young who told Phosphor all about his current self-initiated comic book project and advises aspiring artists to grab every opportunity.

A new interview will be uploaded monthly so look out for July’s interview, which will feature the work of Jenny Lloyd.

Winter Wonderland

Emma Rios is commissioned to create her own winter wonderland backdrops for a range of fragrances.
Now showing in the current issue of Tatler, Emma uses paper silhouette's to capture these evocative scenes which were then photographed by Ted Humble Smith.

Daniela Terrazzini’s cover for Stylist

Daniela was asked to create this beautiful cover and inside illustrations as part of this ‘Special Illustrated Collectors’ edition of Stylist. It was great that Daniela was selected as the cover artist of an issue celebrating illustration. Daniela Terrazzini is represented by the Artworks

Angel’s Great Escape App: Kristyna Litten

Angel's Great Escape is an interactive story book app beautifully illustrated by Kristyna Litten for independent app producer And So We Begin. Written by Kirstie Rowson and narrated by national treasure, Alan Titchmarsh the app for Android, Nook, iPhone and iPad is available to purchase this month. Angel's Great Escape is a magical story about Angel and her tree decoration friends, Fairy, Reindeer, Snowman and Teddy who have been left behind at the house of Mr Mean and his son. They know that they belong on the Christmas tree in the house of the Good family across the road. Children can tap, drag and swipe to help the decorations try to make their escape to the Good family, in hot pursuit by the Mean family's cat. This is Kristyna's second app project having previously worked on Discover's StoryCloud App, illustrating Michael Rosen's poem The Talent Show.

James Taylor for The Southbank Centre

It's that time of year again when the Southbank Centre rolls out its Winter Festival program. James Taylor was asked to create the artwork for this years event. His image is being used online, in press ads and on posters around the city.

Three Village novels

Katarzyna Klein was commissioned to illustrate the cover for 'Three Village Novels', the latest collection of stories set in the village of Turnham Malpas. "Three Village novels"  is written by Rebecca Shaw and published this month by Orion.

Thomas Flintham Loves Mameshiba

Viz Media commissioned Thomas Flintham to illustrate Mameshiba Love Winter. Recently published, this novelty book tells the tale of a group of clever beans who don their hats, scarves and earmuffs to brave the cold and build a snow castle. Thomas' delightful illustrations also include designs for stickers to decorate the pop up castle inside.

Weather man

Darren Diss has been commissioned by The Independent Newspaper and produced this delightful seasonal illustration depicting this year's adverse weather conditions.
