Laurindo Feliciano

LF021

The Artworks are delighted to introduce the latest new talent to join their roster of artists, Laurindo Feliciano. Laurindo was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He has lived and worked in Paris since 2003.  Before the start of his Illustration career he worked as an architect and designer. Inspired by his own collection of vintage books, magazines, postcards and letters, he has created an impressive amount of beautiful illustration works over the years. All of his Illustrations and posters share a certain nostalgic flair and a great passion for surrealism. We are very excited to welcome him to The Artworks, and can’t wait to see what he does next!

Dave Hopkins

Dave Hopkins recently completed two pen and ink drawings for a Sygenta ad commissioned by Ogilvy Primary Contact. Dave’s authentic engraving style was perfect for the aged Victorian feel the client wanted to achieve. Accuracy was vital and various bee experts were on hand to give advice!

Garry Walton

Pastiche artist Garry Walton has created this brilliant artwork for his regular editorial slot in ‘Your Family Tree’ magazine. Every month Garry is called upon to illustrate a different event from the past in the style relevant to the historical era. Garry’s latest artwork illustrates Women’s Rights becoming law on the 23rd of December 1919 following the work of the Suffragettes.

DrNo Vintage Guitar Effects

Boom Artwork recently created the logo artwork and packaging design for DrNo vintage guitar effects. And a very pleasurable job it was, as he thrives on mixing graphic design, custom lettering and illustration, all of which were required for this commission. Initially BoomArtwork did some rough sketches and then set out six different vintage visual routes, one for each guitar effect. Reflecting the sound and style of the effect within the artwork, he finally placed the sketches in illustrator, traced them and added colour. Custom letters were also created to make every effect unique and special. BoomArtwork says "As I'm a guitar player myself I have to say these vintage guitar effects are truly amazing and really take you back in time. All effects are made with the best components and materials that are available, and every stomp box is 100% handmade by DrNo himself."

Happy Birthday Artist Partners!

Here is the front cover designed and produced by Sam Hadley for the new brochure to celebrate Artist Partners  60 years in business – the brochure will be a mix of retro and vintage  and current images by artists past and present. It will be available later in the year. The cover gives a nod to the past and to the style of Saul Bass who was  just one of the  big names represented  by Artist Partners, and also one of the highest calibre designers and illustrators represented by them in their early years.

The Unreliable Life of Harry The Valet

James Brown produced this brilliant cover for the ‘The Unreliable Life of Harry The Valet’ in collaboration with Meiklejohn artist Piers Sanford.  The combination of James’ retro typography and Piers’ etching created a great Victorian Billboard feel for this true story of the most infamous Victorian Jewel thief.
